Our Household Model of Care puts our residents at the heart of everything we do. This innovative and award winning approach breaks down the traditional facility into households, each with their own front door for privacy, kitchen, living rooms, private bedrooms, comfortable dining rooms, private back gardens and plenty of extra spaces. Gone are the institutional ward type buildings and practices. Our team wears regular clothes. The households are furnished in comfortable homely décor, cosy sofas, and personal belongings. Our households smell like home, look like home and most importantly feel like home.
Everyone who lives here has the freedom to choose how their day goes; when to wash, when to get up, when to eat and how to spend their day. Household life is “normal,” yet full of new experiences and stimulating activities.
We create a wonderful family environment where the focus is on living to the full. For us, care is always about a person’s right to a warm and loving environment connected to families and friends. Understanding how our residents like things to be is of utmost importance to us. Moorehall Lodge Drogheda has wonderful reproductions of old Drogheda shop fronts, and local photographic memories throughout the facility. Registered with HIQA, Moorehall Lodge Drogheda provides a very positive experience for people in a place where they can live and flourish.
Divided into six households each has its own front door, bell and post box, as well as private and shared public areas, and is a real home to our residents and staff. We provide a Respite Service on behalf of the HSE catering for people from County Louth. Also, working with the HSE and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda, we provide a Transition/Step Down service. This service supports people transitioning from hospital to home or to long-term care, who would otherwise have remained in hospital until returning home was suitable or when a long-term bed became available.
Our residents’ happiness is our priority. We want our residents’ families to know that we are taking the time to get to know their loved one and doing things just how they like them. I recently spend two weeks on respite care in June in your Drogheda facility. I am writing to congratulate you on a magnificent facility. Too often we hear about the complaints being made about care homes. I would like to say that the level of care I received was fabulous, the staff were welcoming, caring and nothing was too much trouble to them. The facility itself was wonderful and lucky is the person who gets sent to you for care.
There are insufficient words to convey our immense gratitude to the team at Cois Abhainn for looking after our mother, Pamela. From the first day she became part of the Moorehall community she felt safe and cared for in the special homely environment that you take so much trouble to create combined with professionalism, attentiveness and thoughtfulness. This has lead to the development of a mutual and genuine warmth between the care team and Pamela and all of us in her family – and for that we send you a very heartfelt thank you.
I would just like to thank everyone concerned in the care of my Mother. It is a fantastically well run nursing home and my Mother is happy living there. I cant say how much that means to me
My late aunty, Betty, lived in Moorehall Lodge in Ardee for the last nine and a half years. She was as happy there as anywhere ever in her life. The care and attention and friendship she received from the management and staff were second to none. They looked after her with professionalism and dignity, and a great sense of humour and kindness. They were her family, and we were always made welcome to her home.
My experience at Moorehall Lodge was something I will never forget and I will keep the memories with me for a long time to come. The residents at Moorehall are treated just as they should, as residents and not patients
I wanted to let you know how grateful I am for the care dad received during his time in Moorehall Lodge Drogheda. I especially have to mention the week leading to dads passing, the staff in Mellifont Household were so kind that week, we experienced such kindness and warmth from the nurses and the careers. The care was extended to all of the family as we spent the last few days with dad. The years dad spent in Moorehall were hard at times for family and staff but his time in Mellifont was the most peaceful for us all and that was down to the wonderful caregivers who showed patience, humour and kindness to dad and mam. So thank you for all the cups of tea and the chats and please pass on our regards to all in Moorehall Lodge Drogheda especially Mellifont.
